gifster - Andrew Blyth BSc(Hons) MBCS
Welcome to my site

I work mainly with ASP.NET (C#) and have done now for about 5 years, I still work with ASP but this is mainly for maintaining existing websites, I have not worked with PHP for about 4 years now, but I am sure I will pick it up again if needed. I am now working for Darren at Red Star Creative, before that I was working for Idaho Technology from April 2007, until I was made redundant in June 2009 after which I started at Red Star Creative.

I previously worked as a full time Web Developer at the New Media Agency Visuality at the time based in Salford Quays working on sites such as JD Sports, Size? and A-Plant. I was responsible for building the websites and developing the CMS and catalogue system.

Examples of my work can be seen in my portfolio section.

I have a BSc(Hons) in Internet Computing and I am now in the final stages of completing my MSc in Databases and Web-based Systems in the School of Computing, Science and Engineering at Salford University, more information on my dissertation project are available on my blog.

I enjoy photography in my spare time and some examples can be found in the gallery and on flickr.

My CV is also available online. If you require any further information please feel free to contact me.

  • Results for Masters

I now have some marks back for my MSc Database & Web-based Systems. I have averaged 68.5% for the taught aspect of the course. This means that I now need to complete my dissertation to a standard that will get me 73%. Hopefully this is achievable and I will be aiming to work to a standard that will put my in the low eighties.

Here is a break down of my marks, overall I am quite happy with them, apart from 'Programming for Networks' as I was hindered by a team mate who made absolutely no effort on the assignment.

    • Computer Networks 57%
    • Programming for Networks 50%
    • Management Principles and Practices 79%
    • Research Methods 64%
    • Advanced Databases (double weighted module) 63%
    • Web-based Systems Development (double weighted module) 86%

  • New Book

As I have read most of the Alex Cross novels by James Patterson, I have been looking for a new author as I have been reading loads of Patterson's books and not that I am getting bored but more want to read something different. So I have bought the first 'Jack Reacher' book 'Killing Floor' by Lee Child. So far I am quite impressed with the book, not as much of a killing spree as Patterson's books tend to be but still I am hooked. If anyone can suggest some similar books to James Patterson and Lee Child's books I am open to suggestions.

    Thanks

  • New Site in development

    Hey All,

My new site is currently in development and I have used the alpha version of my software '.toolbox', I will be linking this blog up to my new site with the Google API. I like the design that I currently have but I would like a more grungy look to the site, so if anyone has any good suggestions or example please leave a comment.

    Thanks
